Smash Hits Magazine.
After completing my audience research I came across an exclusive Lady Gaga special edition of Smash hits magazine. As I am doing an eighties special edition magazine, this relates to my project. The colours used on the front cover red, yellow and black. This is a simple colour scheme which is what I found out was used most when carrying out my existing product research. Yellow and red are bright colours which seemed to be used in the special edition issues of Mojo as well as the magazines published in the 80s. The text/picture ratio is about half which again is what I found out from my research from the other magazines. The text is mostly words and not long sentences as the main articles feature inside and the front cover’s aim is to attract the audience to buy the magazine. The main photography used on the cover is posed however there is a live photo below alongside some other posed photographs of Lady Gaga. This again matches what I found out in my original research, that the front cover image is posed.

York College Magazine
I created this York College magazine so I could try out Photoshop before producing my final magazine. For the front cover, I put the masthead at the top of the page with my image covering the rest of the page. I did this because the layout for my final magazine will be similar. For the contents page and I blocked out in coloured blocks where the masthead would go as well as text and images to save time. This will help when making my final magazine to know where to insert everything. However when making the final magazine I will put my images and text into these spaces. When producing my final magazine I will spend more time ensuring that everything is how it should be and suitable for its audience. I hope to improve my Photoshop skills so that I can use more techniques in the process of making my final magazine.
